Discrediting
People tend to say things have changed over the years, but in actuality it things havd stayed the same with a twist. In the early 90s men were dressing up in women's clothing and it was seen as a form of entertainment. People tuned in to watch Living Color to see Jamie Foxx play Wanda and even went to the box office in support of the Nutty Professor where the comdeian Eddie Murphy played the mom and Grandmom. Back then there were quite a few movies being made that men played female roles and no one saw it as a problem nor was their sexuality questioned. Not once did anyone think of the hidden message behind men impersonating women.
But now it shunned upon for an openly gay man to be himself on a television show. It was seen as pure entertainment when straight men dressed as women, but it's disgusting or exposing the youth to see a gay man being himself hosting a show?! This so backwards!
Why is it a problem when men, who are comfortable with their sexuality, host a show about their everyday lives? Why is a man's sexuality a problem when he's hosting a show? Does his opinion not hold any value or is it less important then a straight man's? Sexuality is playing too much of a role when there are other things we should be worried about. At least these men are being honest with who they are! There are plenty of men that are closet gays for many reasons and yet everyone still wonders why people don't come out. The world bashes openly gay men for coming out and down low men. My question is when does someone's sexuality hinder them and what they're capable of doing?
